The Pleasing Mouse
“You say yes while you feel no. You adjust, read between the lines for what others expect, and make sure not to be in the way. You work with people who do not fit you, because saying ‘this is not for me’ still feels scarier than erasing yourself.”

What keeps you small
The pattern
You are still looking for proof that you are good enough. In that search you lose yourself, and your mission gets diluted. Your business cannot grow bigger than you dare to be.
The shift
What moves you forward
Stop proving and start choosing. For your people, your approach, your voice. You do not have to be for everyone. You only have to be for the right ones.
A quote
“Unicorns are not born. They are chosen, by themselves.”
Your strength
You read people flawlessly. Empathy is a gift, not a weakness. When you finally choose fully for yourself, you choose from a depth few people have.
The question for you
What would you do if you knew that your no actually brings people closer to themselves?
How this pattern shows up
In your ordinary week
- 01You say yes in a meeting while feeling no inside, and figure out the ‘how’ later.
- 02A client crosses a line and you soften it rather than name it.
- 03You drop your rate the moment someone sighs.
Three first steps
To do today
- 1Track for one day every place you said yes while feeling no.
- 2Practice one line: ‘let me come back to this tomorrow’ instead of saying yes on the spot.
- 3Ask yourself once a day: ‘what would I choose if I didn’t have to please?’
What you might ask about this pattern
The Pleasing Mouse
Isn’t pleasing just being empathic?
Empathy is feeling what someone else feels. Pleasing is swallowing your own no to avoid disappointing them. The first is a gift, the second is a pattern.
How do I know if I’m a pleaser or just kind?
Being kind doesn’t cost you anything. Pleasing costs you energy, income, and over time yourself. If you’re often empty after saying ‘yes’, look there.
Will I lose clients if I stop pleasing?
You lose clients who were there for the adapted version of you. You attract clients who were waiting for you. There’s discomfort in the middle.
Is this the same as ‘setting boundaries’?
Related. Boundaries are the external shape, the pattern lives deeper, in where you say yes before you even feel no.
But is this really your pattern?
Seven questions expose it. Plus a workbook written for your specific type.
